The Braedens forgot about Dean Winchester and were leading happy lives for years without any monsters, hunters, or anything associated with the supernatural life. Ben took up baseball again, and was almost done with high school when something changed.It hit him randomly, and unexpectedly, in the middle of class. Nothing important happened, nothing hit him on the head, he was sitting in class - dozing off. And the name Winchester surfaced in the back of his head, and immediately it was like he could remember something that he couldn’t quite say. Something on the tip of his tongue. So when Ben went home that day, he started to research on everything Winchester. The town, the guns, anything that appeared when he searched it.Until Ben came across names. Dean Winchester, was wanted back in St. Louis for murders before arrested alongside his brother, Sam Winchester, a few years later. Just like that Ben started to search everything he could on the two Winchesters, learning whatever the Internet could provide him about the two men. That night when he went to sleep, it was like a wall inside his mind cracked and the memories of it all slowly started to seep in.That night, Ben remembered how he first met Dean at his eighth birthday, their characteristics of personality similar and scaring him into believing that Dean was his dad. But his mom denied it and he hadn’t seen the Winchester for years. Until Dean returned, damaged and broken about something he suppressed from Ben - for his own protection.And that’s when Ben started to remember everything. By the time he woke up, he paced around his place, remembering when Dean shoved him against the wall one random night after being gone on hunts for days. Ben remembered when he ran upstairs to his room and desperately called Dean to asked him for help, that men were in the house, and that he was scared. Ben started to remember the night when a demon possessed his mom, and stabbed herself in an attempt to kill her before exorcising from her body. That was the first time when Ben wielded a weapon and had to kill someone in order to clear a passage for Dean carrying his hurt mom to the Impala.And then Ben remembered the hospital - how angry he was at Dean. That sort of hatred was consuming him before it was suddenly replaced with heavy nothingness. How Dean entered the room and introduced himself as a driver that accidentally hit his mom when they were in the car. Dean took their memories. And immediately, all the anger that was suppressed over years due to false memories arose again.In an attempt to spite Dean, and his constant reminder that Ben would never shoot a gun, Ben started to become a hunter. He started to track cases nearby that he could take and started to take down monsters. He dropped out of baseball, he started to get detention - most of the time he never showed up for - and distancing himself from his mom because of his constant need to research cases. His mom saw this, and often they fought with each other, and she would demand why he was suddenly acting out - but Ben never told her, because he knew that she didn’t even remember Dean.Seeing another case that was slightly farther from his others, Ben acted on it and said that his school was taking him on a field trip and he had to leave for a couple days. But when he came back, he found his mom in a pool of her own blood. When the police investigated, Ben became a primary suspect due to the house having no sign of forced entry and the body looking like there was little to no struggle - the killer was someone she knew and trusted, which lead Ben to believe that a shapeshifter took Ben’s form and killed his mom with his face, making his mom believe that her own son wanted to kill her.Consumed with guilt, Ben fled his town not long after, without regards of the police, and started to search out Dean to blame him for what happened - claiming that if they didn’t forget, then they would be able to protect themselves and his mom would have still been alive. Years later, he is still looking for Dean, and trying to make headway on where the Winchesters could be, while also still running away from the shapeshifter that killed his mom. Ben has grown to find out over the years that the shapeshifter is still in the shape of him, which means that the shapeshifter keeps collecting his memories, even new ones that are created in the present but they’re delayed for the shapeshifter. So when Ben leaves a town, the shapeshifter shows up there days later. Ben has also grown to find out that the shapeshifter has been killing innocent people in towns that he leaves from; finding out in newspaper that the innocent woman he talked to about the hunting case was found dead after Ben left.

[  @LILYSPAINTEDRED  ] :      LILY WINCHESTER       Ben and Lily’s relationship wasn’t easy in the beginning when he first met her in the bunker, because he saw nothing but a stranger where she saw a brother, so his anger (at Dean, at his own losses, at the years of absence) curdled into cruelty. He pushed her away, resenting how easily she seemed to fit into a place he’d fought his whole life to reach. But Lily’s patience, her stubborn warmth laced with sharp wit wore through the walls he built. Over time, she stopped being just Dean’s other kid and became his sister in truth, the one person who could tease him into laughing or call him on his self destruction without driving him further away. Lily is proof that family is about who stays. And in his own jagged way, he’s realized he would do anything to protect her, because loving her feels like reclaiming something he thought he’d lost forever.

[  @DARKNESSHUNTED  ] :      CALLIOPE MCINTYRE       Calliope and Ben's dynamic stems back since they were in school together, before he has been covered in trauma and scars. She knew a part of him before the hunting life claimed him, and he in turn relies on her to keep him grounded. When Ben's mother died, Calliope's parents were taken by demons, and thus the two of them were thrusted in a world of going on the run together. Both of them navigated this new arc in their lives together, relying on their friendship to help them get through their hardships.

[  @ROTTENACHE  ] :      JESSE TURNER       Two sides of the same coin, bound like brothers to the end. Ben and Jesse’s paths collided when both were searching for answers (Ben stepping further into hunting while carrying the weight of being framed for murder, Jesse returning stateside with his powers reawakened after losing his father). At first, their differences felt insurmountable, but they discovered their common ground in the simplest, sharpest truth: they just want to save lives. Hunting forged a bond stronger than blood. Over time, their partnership deepened into some semblance of a brotherhood, one defined not by circumstance but by choice. Yet their journey is haunted by a cruel destiny: Jesse, destined to reclaim Hell’s throne as the Antichrist, and Ben, tied unknowingly to Heaven through his Winchester blood, marked as the one fated to kill him. Their story mirrors the Winchesters before them, caught in a prophecy neither asked for, fighting tooth and nail to carve out their own journey. And like true brothers, they’ve vowed to go down swinging together, no matter what destiny demands. Eventually, Jesse meets Ben's sister, Lily, and he gets to watch a love blossom between the both of them, leading eventually to Jesse and Lily retiring from hunting together as a couple.

[  #MAIN VERSE  ] :      V. BUT IN THIS TWILIGHT, OUR CHOICES SEAL OUR FATE. Following the death of his mother in an incident with a shapeshifter, Ben has been falsely implicated and went on the run. He has been living off the grid, taking on hunts wherever he can while actively avoiding any semblance of long term attachments, emotional vulnerability, and any ties to his past. Though he was once believed to be the son of Dean, Ben now keeps that part of his life at a distance, rarely speaking about his connection to the Winchesters at all. He is known for his solitary life, and his sharp and sarcastic demeanor. Yet, beneath the guarded armor is a deep, deep sense of guilt, grief, and a sick desire to make things right, even if he doesn't believe that he deserves peace. His motiations mostly center around evading the shapeshifter that is responsibile for his mother's death while also protecting those who get caught in the crossfire, and keeping a distance to avoid repeating his past.

[  #LATER VERSE  ] :      V. WEEP LITTLE LION MAN. This verse takes place during the time frame when Ben no longer wants to wrangle with his anger anymore, and instead, decides to make the necessary changes to his life to better mend the relationships that he nearly burned down around him when he was angry at the world, and try his best to be a better son and friend and partner to those who need him. He starts to take out the case files that he has built on the Shapeshifter Demon over the years, start to finally tackle the one monster that he was never able to really face, finally once and for all. This verse will center a lot around Ben trying to make amends with people, apologize for his past actions, while also fighting against his bad habits that urges for him to keep people at arms length.

[  #OLDER VERSE  ] :      V. ALL THE FAULTS YOU'VE LEFT BEHIND. Following Ben post-Shapeshifter Demon. He is weary with age, but finally at peace and trying to get used to finally having his own thoughts again. For years, he was weighed down by the knowledge that any thoughts, feelings, beliefs he have was never his own, but always eventually the Shapeshifter Demon's as well. After years of warring with himself, in a finality grand fight, Ben finally defeats the shapeshifter and has been living his newfound era of his life as a hunter, now that it's all that he knows.

[  #THE BOYS  ] :      V. TBT.      "Savior Ben" Braeden works out of the Vought Tower with his ability to heal people, but at a cost. His powers are not marketable enough for him to be considered one of the Seven, but still far too important for Vought image's to keep him in the tower. His ability to heal others through touch is limited, as he doesn't just mend wounds or strip a life threatening illness away from a stranger, but rather he absorbs it and feel the pain himself as well. Being a supe, his body is designed and carefully created to withstand a great amount of damage before his body starts to actively reject itself: tremors, going pale, sweats, and worst of it: hemorrhaging. It's these moments that Vought carefully hides from the general public, carefully painting and crafting the "pure" image of Ben to help Vought's image whenever points start to decline after a mission has gone wrong with the Seven. They control his suffering as content, only giving a little for the cameras before they cut to pre-recorded videos of Ben being a "hero." Vought engineers situations to help boost ratings (ex: a collapsed building where civilians are extracted but "one last trapped survivor" is staged for him, controlled explosions in abandoned facilities, Ben stays because he feels like he can do good at Vought, has more access to be able to help people who need it, while also healing Supes who come back to the tower injured, at the cost of himself.

[  #THE GIFTED/X-MEN/MUTANT VERSE  ] :      V. WE GRIEVE LIKE THEY DO. Ben always knew that he had special powers from a young age, but never quite knew how to manage them. All he knew is that he was able to mend skin together through touch alone, healing people despite it taking a great deal of energy from him. The only one that he was never really able to save was his mother, found dead in his home, body cold before he can get to her. Ben had the ability to heal, but not to bring back the dead. On the run, being framed for his mother's murder, he goes to say goodbye to his sister, Lily Winchester (@lilyspaintedred). But she was adamant that she would go with him. Together, they ran to the Mutant Underground, picked up to help get Ben across the border unscathed and free, but upon joining the organization, Ben felt a sense of justice that he longed for, deciding then that instead of running, he would stay and help as many mutants or humans as he could while in the organization.

[  #SHAPESHIFTER  ] :      V. I THOUGHT OF ANGELS CHOKING ON THEIR HALOS.      After killing Lisa, the shapeshifter demon wore Ben's face to be caught with evidence of her undoing, vanishing before authorities could track it. With the truth buried and no one to defend him, Ben went on the run and forced into the life of a hunter full time. Over the years, the shapeshifter demon reappears in the background of various of Ben's hunts, just always out of reach. It assumes the faces of allies, strangers, even Ben himself often. The creature doesn't kill randomly, it starts to choose its moments carefully, often to sabotage Ben's relationships, destroy fragile trust, or to provoke him into isolation completely. Author is writing as the Shapeshifter Demon.Response from 2022 to an Anon that asked about why the Shapeshifter is after Ben: "the shapeshifter demon's motives to hunt down ben stems from years ago when ben actually started to regain his memories back from when they were previously erased by dean. it's the same song and dance, the supernatural creature believed that ben had direct linkage to the dean winchester, and wanted to take him out due to the fact that the winchesters are big names hunters, and the shapeshifter demon wanted to target them in his own way. but upon looking closer, the shapeshifter realized that he yearned something that a lot of people usually do: a maternal love.being a shapeshifter and a demon, both of his parents were supernatural entities, and therefore, did not have the love or devotion for him that he so desperately craved. all that he wanted was to be seen, and cared for; and the lack thereof only polluted his mindset and his morality, and tainted him to be the supernatural creature that everyone feared. but whenever he saw the way that lisa would act for ben, he craved for that kind of mother, because he never had it.so out of an act of selfishness, whenever ben was gone on hunts, the shapeshifter demon transformed into ben, and stayed in the braeden's place without ben's knowing, and would get that motherly love that he so desperately wanted. and it became this routine. he would wait for ben to leave to go on a hunt, and then the shapeshifter demon would go in and pretend as though the "field trip" was cancelled and just stay. at this time, though, ben was not treating his mother very kindly.ben held a resentment towards dean and in turn, he took it out on his own mother at times. even though she still couldn't remember dean, he still blamed her for introducing him into the braeden's lives, and putting them through hell. it was the reason why he started to hunt, and lie to his mother about his whereabouts. he kept her at arm's length, and would be bitter and sulking about the fact that their memories were erased, and that only ben was the one in the household that could remember anything.the shapeshifter demon could see the way that ben would treat lisa, and he started to resent ben for it. how could he treat a mother like that? someone who was caring and loved him? it made him sick to his stomach. one night, the last hunt that ben went on before his life fell apart, the shapeshifter demon decided that he was going to tell lisa the truth and see if she would rather accept him as a son, instead of ben.it was a far fetched idea, but one that was motivated by his own accord and his own plan. he watched as lisa broke down, telling him (as she thought that he was actually ben) that he can be so cruel sometimes. she said that she wished that he would always be this kind, this soft with her; and that made the shapeshifter believe in his own twisted way, that maybe lisa could tell that he was not actually ben. that maybe she could sense that he was different, and a better son. a better choice for her.so that night, when she was getting ready for bed, the shapeshifter demon goes to her and tells her the truth about what and who he is under the impression that she would welcome him with open arms. he revealed his true face to her, happy that he could finally allow himself to be free; but she screamed in horror, much to his surprise. she was scared of him. she did not want him. in a burst of seething anger, and hurt, the shapeshifter brutally killed her. he lashed out from a place of seething rage, something that was untapped before, but now a second skin to him.the damning thing too, is that he blames ben for the death of lisa braeden. he believes that if ben was just a little kinder to his own mother, then the shapeshifter demon would not have had to intervene. maybe perhaps, just ben would have died, and lisa would just be a grieving mother. so the shapeshifter decided in that moment that he was going to hunt down ben. he wanted ben to feel as pathetically alone as the shapeshifter demon did in that moment when lisa screamed in horror. he wanted ben to feel the pain of knowing that he couldn't be loved; he wanted ben to know what it felt like to be a monster."

[  #001  ] :      sometimes ben's memories with dean gets fuzzy; since he still struggles with the fog surrounding having his memories erased, and re-learning the memories on his own.[  #002  ] :      thinkin thoughts about ben finally letting people in about the shapeshifter demon, when he finally decides to put an end to the vicious cycle after his niece is born, and no longer keeping the files that he kept on the shapeshifter to himself. him pinning it on a board and starting to put the clues together, and figure a plan out to find out how to go about killing the shapeshifter demon; active steps to finally give himself some sliver of closure, and letting people come in to see and at least, finally accept their help.[  #003  ] :     ben was born with "dead nerves" in his lower lip, which causes some asymmetry often when he talks. ben used to be insecure about it when he was younger, but thanks to his mother who constantly praised him and uplifted his confidence numerously, he isn't so ashamed of it anymore. whenever he sees that his lips are slightly crooked in the mirror now, he thinks back to when his mother used to make him stop talking bad about himself, and he free falls into memory lane and remembering lisa braeden.[  #004  ] :     ben's grandparents were slightly religious, and he was aware of it growing up before lisa decided to cut ties with them when he was still in elementary school. he remembers the last visit with them ended in the middle of the night, when he hears lisa argue with her parents over a tired subject: having a kid out of wedlock, not having a husband, etc. his grandparents firmly believes that ben was considered a bastard until lisa found a "suitor" and settled down with them. lisa fought against that narrative, but when she realized that ben overheard what his grandparents have said about him, she decided she was going to remove him from that kind of pain.[  #005  ] :     ben has some deep seeded abandonment issues + trust issues. this is due to never having a consistent father figure in his life, with the filtering of men coming in and out of his mother's life. because of this, ben never truly experienced the consistency of someone staying in his life, especially when it gets hard, so growing up ben knows that no one is permanent. no one stays around, regardless of what they say; and this gets exponentially worse when he regains his memories and remembers dean and what has happened, and it's a (genuine) father figure that he had in his life who stepped up because it was hard, and he still left. ben doesn't let himself get close to people namely due to the fact that he doesn't trust that they will see the ugly, the grittiness, and who he is enough to want to stay. it's easier to just assume the worst, it's easier to just not let people in, it's easier to guard himself and prevent himself from getting too dependent on anyone, because he has been surrounded by people who always left.[  #006  ] :     the shifter has all of ben's little unique vocal tics, twang, etc. the shifter has adopted all of ben's quirks subconsciously, not realizing it that as time passes on, the individuality of the shifter starts to get lost as he progressively and progressively continues to look like ben and collect ben's thoughts and memories and beliefs.[  #007  ] :     ben also smokes cigarettes on some nights, especially after a hunt. if there have been any victims that he feels as though he could have prevented, he will have a second one.[  #008  ] :     it has been spoken to both ben and jesse that jesse would be destined to go down a darker path that he cannot avoid for the sake of love, and ben will have to be the one that kills jesse to prevent that destruction[  #009  ] :     the fact that ben is never able to get a consistent father figure in his life does have a lasting effect on him that he doesn't like to touch. namely the fact that he will always struggle with seeing any sort of semblance of a father figure in anyone, including dean, for a long while because he is used to "father figures" coming and going in his life. which also goes hand in hand with his abandonment issues as well, since his biological father was never around as well as dean leaving. and ben never made the process any easier too. always adamant towards any guys that his mother would date, with a too realistic mindset towards them, which also prevents them from having a chance to really get settled in the relationship as well. lisa usually keeps them away, but the boyfriends that ben do meet, he is usually guarded and cold and says "until you're not around anymore" because he expects his mother to break off with them as well.[  #009  ] :     the shapeshifter hardly stopped wearing ben's face since lisa's death. he has been wearing ben's face for years at this point, and therefore, has already downloaded all of ben's past thoughts and memories. a shapeshifter can collect and possess the thoughts of those that they take on the form of over time; it is one of their unique abilities. sometimes, even the lines blur, and the shapeshifter demon has to remind himself that he is not ben. but not just that, the shapeshifter demon also has been starting to collect new memories and thoughts over time, because there's no more old memories to download. usually it takes days, which is why the shapeshifter is just always a little bit behind ben; which is also why ben always feels like he is on a time crunch whenever he is on a hunt. but due to this, for years of ben's life, he has never felt like his own person and his thoughts hasn't felt like they're his own for too long. he knows that whatever he thinks or sees or believes, the shapeshifter will eventually get those memories, and use them against ben.[  #010  ] :     friendly reminder that once ben was captured by a hunter who thought that he was the shapeshifter that was killing innocent people, and even took a knife to ben, before he realized that ben was human.[  #011  ] :     ben's writing is notoriously messy because he has too many thoughts and he is desperately trying to write it all down on paper. he doesn't have a preference on pen or pencil; just whatever is nearby and that he can get his hands on. his handwriting is extremely messy to the point where there will be times when someone asks him what something says that he wrote, and sometimes ben can't even remember or read his own writing.[  #012  ] :     lisa's sister didn't believe that ben could have possibly killed lisa, and even though he wasn't there anymore, she would defend him whenever someone would bring it up. at lisa's funeral, ben knew he couldn't officially attend, but he did show up in the distance, wearing a suit and watching as they lowered her to the ground. no one saw him, but lisa's sister did, and they shared a moment together and she nodded to him as a way to show that they will be okay.[  #013  ] :     ben never realized why before, but he got heavily into cars after dean left. he learned the history of them, how to fix one up, etc. which is why he knows how to hotwire specific cars and why he is an amazing driver. he has a fondness for classic muscle cars, though he never realized why until he saw the impala. so don't be surprised when you see him geek out over cars.[  #014  ] :     ben definitely tries to not share a lot of emotions when he is around others. if he is about to fall apart, having a panic attack, or in a fit of rage; he waits until he is alone in order to be able to let out such large amount of emotions. usually they explode out of him from how much ben repress his emotions and how he feels, and he doesn't realize how much they are impacting him until it just comes pouring out. it's rare when he actually lets someone see him in such a state, because ben truly does try to reserve those emotions for when he's completely alone and he knows he will be alone for a bit.[  #015  ] :     ben has a picture of him and his mom during a baseball game in high school, where she is wearing a jersey shirt with ben's number on it and "mama braeden" across the back. shes squeezing his cheeks against hers, while he grimaces, but she's beaming with pride.[  #016  ] :     ben has two anti demon possession tattoos on him. the first was on his bicep, and he got it shortly after he found the winchesters and the bunker, and realized that he needed to get it. however, during a hunt, the lines of the tattoo got burned off and ruined, thus breaking the effect of the tattoo. he got the second one on his back, between his shoulder blades, as an attempt to hide it better and prevent it from being ruined again.[  #017  ] :     after he loses his mother, ben goes on a journey to try and find the winchesters to help find answers. due to this, one of ben's first stop was to visit bobby singer's home, finding it singed and burned down years ago. tucked within the singer junkyard, ben found an orange dusty '69 camaro, that looked as though it has seen better days.ben camps out at the singer's property for several days, putting together the vehicle with the memories that he is still trying to muddle through, snippets from when dean used to teach ben the car mechanics under the hood when he was younger. during this time, it forces ben to start figuring out what was real in his past, and what was conjured up and changed with castiel's powers when he erased the braeden's memories.ben still drives the camaro around, though he finds he has to gradually put more and more love into her as he takes her on hunts with him.
